Port Of Thessaloniki joins forces with Green Award Foundation

As the Chairman of the Green Award Foundation I am delighted  to signify a considerable milestone in the history of the Port Of Thessaloniki.  On Friday 8th of march 2019, the Port Of Thessaloniki, the most important port in Macedonia and one of the most important ports in Southeast Europe, joined the league of Green Award stakeholders.

We are very pleased to have such a value oriented organisation in the Green Award scheme and we are confident for its willingness to clearly demonstrate a commitment to achieving the Green Award Foundation’s objectives, mission and vision with a unique orientation on environmental excellence and safety in shipping.

I certainly expect that this frontrunner role worthy taken by the Port of Thessaloniki will both stimulate the local and peripheral shipping society and generate high interest of other ports to follow this eminent example and become part of this global green team.

From now on, as a new but yet a dynamic and well promising member of our global port community, the port of Thessaloniki will use the Green Award program as a tool to improve the environmental and safety standards in shipping. Furthermore, with an incentive equaling a 15% discount on the port fees, proudly decided and offered by the management, ship owners will certainly be motivated and promptly activated to the implementation of the Green Award standards aiming to safer and cleaner shipping.

The Port of Thessaloniki has officially entered the Green Award certification program and will join forces with 36 other ports spread globally and more than 75 other incentive providers with a prominent presence of several Greek maritime service providers.

Welcome on board Port of Thessaloniki team!

We are delighted to have you alongside to this journey!
